Hobbit

In the hobbit we are making Wikipedia pages for specific creatures and I am doing elves. Some of the most famous elves are Elrond, Thranduil and Legolas.
We are making a PowerPoint in ela for hatchet it is called abc booklet
Developed countries have better health care but developing ether bad health care or no health care at all

The Hobbit

We are reading the Hobbit in ELA. The hobbit is about a dragon named smaug. And the dwarves are getting back there treasure
In math we did a review for a test and we just did all the stuff from our chapter.

math

Yesterday in math we learned that 0.75 as % is 75%

ELA

In ELA we are learning about and reading the Hobbit. There is this creepy little guy named Gollum and him and bilbo (the hobbit) have a riddles competition.

We day

I went to we day in Winnipeg I was fun

We learned how we could do better in the world and donate stuff
in the hobbit we found out who Gilliam was
To day is hollowean and I dress up as tyler Scott

Estimating

Estimating is when you round as many numbers as you have and then you ether add, subtract, divide or multiple the numbers. That number will be close to what your original number.
Example:

   4230 >4000
+3476 >3000
——— ———
              7000

 8578 >9000
- 4234 >4000
——— ———
              5000
In drama we have to do speeches about something we know about and I did it on horses. Did you know that there are over 300 different breeds of horses

SS

In S.S we learned that Canada could fit 3.3 people per square kilometer. The country is sparsely populated.

Shanghai

Shanghai is a city in China. Shanghai's population is about 14 million. That is the highest population of one city in the world.

The Montreal Canadians have won a total of 24 Stanley cups and they are going to have 25 after this season

B.E.D.M.A.S.

B.E.D.M.A.S. stands for bracets, exponents division multiplecation, subtraction and addition
Ex.  2÷(19+3)-8=
            19+3=24
            2÷24=12
               12-8=
                   4

Population

The lowest populated place in the world is Montreal Canada at 1.621million

Order of operations

Yesterday we learnt how to do order of operations ex.5to the 3 power+(3x9)-9

Bedmas

B brackets
E exponents
D divide
M multiply
A add
S subtract

Order of Operation

Order of operation is what order you do the question. You have to use BEDMAS ( Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, Subtraction).

Percents

When you do 25% of 50, you times by 4
When you do 50% of 100, you cut it in half
When you do 10% of 20, you move the decimal one place to the left

Order Of Operation

Yesterday we learned Order Of Operation. If you want to do it right you follow this pattern:
B-bracits
E-exponints
D-division
M-multiply
A-adding
S-subtract

For example:
15-4x2=7
10 by the power of 2+64=164

Math

Yesterday day we learned about BEDMAS b means brackets e means exponents d meand division m means multiplication a means addition and s meand subtraction!
Japan is a densely populated country

Math

I learned in math that 50% of 80% equals 40%.
Yesterday in math we learned the order of operations and what bedmas stands for which is bracets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction.

Israel

The country Israel was founded on May 14 1948

S.S

Today in social studies we are learning about the population of the world. Did you know that there is 7 billion people in the world..!!!

Dividing With Powers of 10

Dividing with powers of 10 is easy, and not easy.
Ex 4.8÷10=0.48
     4.8÷100=0.048
     4.8÷1000=0.0048
     4.8÷10000=0.00048
     And so on

In social study's we are learning the county and continets and populations of a city like
New York is in u.s.a/ North America and the population is 8.406 million

S.s

Yesterday in ss I learned that there are 14 350 000 people in Shanghai and it is one of the biggest cities in the world!!!!!!

Population

The highest populated city ever is Shanghai with about 15 million people.

Population

We are learning population in S.S. I learned that the population of New York is 8.406 million! That is alot of people!
Did you know that in 1804 there was 1 billion people but now in 2013 there are 7 billion people on earth.
There is 7 billion people in the world

Social Studies

Yesterday I learned that the city Istanbul has the population of 14.16 million people!!

I learned that you don't change moose to meese and don't change foot to foots

SS world population milestones

ELA

In ELA with Ms. M this week we are learning about homophones. We had to make our own homophones book with a partner based on the children's book 'Dear Deer'. My partner was Abbey and we made a book called ' Bare Bear's Advice Column'
about every 10 years the Canadian government takes a census yo find out the population.
A census is taken to find out how many people in each household and what language and the gender   By tyler

Social

In 1804 there were 1 billion people in the world

Social

In the year 2300 (150 years later) there might be 134 trillion people in the world

Census

Today I learned about a Census. A census is where you find the population.
A census is taken because they need to know the population of the country and also ages, language, ethnic backgrounds and other facts

Social Studies

We learned that the world population is growing by 3000 every 20 minutes

PEI

pei's soil is mostly red sand and they gore mostly potatoes.

Fraction decimal and percent

We learn abut changing a fraction to decimal to percent
Ex 1/4 to 0.25 to 25%

Volleyball

Our team record for volleyball is  so far 2-3.

Volleyball

Our team record for volleyball was 1-2

Math

In math we are learning to multiply with powers of ten above and below one
Ex: 23x10=230 2.34x10=23.4 0.01x45=0.45
Volume- the amount of space an object occupies
Kinetic energy is the movement of particles in matter.

Science

I learned that matter is anything that takes up space. And volume is anything that occupies space.

Particle theory of matter

In science I learned that Particle Theory In Matter is-  a theory that can explain how heat energy and matter works.

Multiplying by the powers of 10

Example            36 times 10 = 360
                          36 times 100 = 3600
                          36 times 1000 = 36000
                    36 times 10000 = 360000

Hatchet

I just finished reading hatchet chapters 13+14 and I really enjoyed it. In this chapter Brian learned how to catch a fish, he made himself a bow and arrow but it did not work the way he wanted it to
So Brian tryed catching the fish from another angle! And it worked that day Brian ate more than 20 fish!
Today in math we learned how to multiply by the power of ten
Ex. 36 x 100 = 3600 because at the end of every whole number
There is an imaginary decimal and since there is two 0 you and the 2
0 on to the end
Today in math whe learned how to multiply by the powers of ten. If it's a whole number you move the decimal to the right and if it's a decimal number you move the decimal to the left.

Estimating sums and differences

Estimating is very easy. First u round and then u find the sum or difference

Estimating Sums and Differances

Estimating is very easy. First, you round up or down. Then, you add or subtract, depending on the question. And that is the estimated answer.

Nouns

Last week we learned about nouns
Nouns are a person, place, or thing so almost everything around you is a noun!!!!!!!

Friday, October 3, 2014

Noun

we had to find nouns in a sentience nouns are people places and things
Like school a pencil and mr r

Nouns

Yesterday we learned about nouns. (Example, Ashton G, A Desk, Virden jr High)

Grammer

We learned about nouns yesterday. A noun is a person, place or thing.

From Ashton G

Problem solving

Problem solving is where you have to figure out how to solve a problem example jack had $ 20.00 he paid $ 13.50 for a hair cut and $ 2.00 for bus fare how much does he have left ? By Kyran
To remember the order of operations say bedmas. B means brackets. E means exponents. D means division. M means multiplication. A means addition. S means subtraction.

Volleyball

In volleyball there are 4 different way to get the ball over the net which are serve, set, bump, and spike. You can put your hands together different ways for bumping. I like serving!!

In gym we learned how to over hand serve and when you serve you should have it in the palm of your hand when you hit it and don't make a fist and punch it when your serving.    Hunter

Volleyball

In volleyball when you go to bump the ball you move first and than you put your hands in the bumping position

Math

In math we are learning about bedmas.

Order of operations

I learn order of operations
B-rackets
E-xponents
D-ivide
M-ultiply
A-dd
S-ubtract

Sequence of Operation

When you use sequence of operation, you figure out the order you do your question. For example, I bought 3 bags of candy, $2.50 each. My friend bought 2 bags of skittles, $2.25 each. how much money did we spend in total. First, you figure out how much my candy was. Then you find out how much the skittles are. Then figure out how much it costs in total.

Bumping

Today in gym we learned how to bump what you do is you put your hands together and you bend your legs then when the ball is right there you go up with your legs and keep your arms stiff then hit the ball with your four arm and that's how you bump!!!!!!!!
Today in gym we did bumbing in volleyball !! That is when you put your arms together and you shrug your shoulders bend your legs and hit the ball with your forearm !!!

Scientific notation

In math we learned about scientific notation.
 Example 4321=4.231 times 10 3 power

Magazine Campaign

So, Virden junior high started magazine campaign this week and so far our class is the highest for downstairs which is pretty awesome! We sold something like 108 magazines without double day, and we raised about 3600 dollars! Which is AWESOME! keep the work up and we will be going on the reward trip!

Order of Operations

Yesterday in math with mrs. P, we learned order of operations. Here is an example.

20-(5+1)+6=20
In math we are finishing up our 1st chapter and we studied for a test that we have today in math on a review of our first chapter
In ela we are doing a poem and you have to put it into a bug and it has to be detailed.     Tyler

Peace poster

For social studies we are making a peace poster. A peace poster can't auve any words and it has to involve peace.
Thai week in math we have been doing order of operations, when you are doing order of operations you always do the number in brackets first, then you can do the rest.
